Benefits of Invisalign®

The many benefits of treatment with Invisalign® have made this system the preferred orthodontic therapy option among adults and teens. With Invisalign®, most patients can:

Candidates for Invisalign®

During your personalized consultation, your dentist can evaluate your smile to determine if you are a good candidate for orthodontic treatment with the Invisalign® system. Candidates for Invisalign® typically present the need for mild to moderate orthodontic correction to alleviate crowding, close gaps between teeth, adjust improper bite, and straighten crooked or rotated teeth. Patients with severe misalignment concerns may require more intensive orthodontic treatment. In some cases, porcelain veneers may present a more suitable option for creating the appearance of a straightened smile.

The Invisalign® Process

Your treatment begins with a series of digital X-rays, 3D dental scans, and photos to document your condition and provide the necessary information for treatment planning. Using the collected imagery, your dentist will collaborate with the Invisalign® lab to create an individualized plan comprised of a series of customized aligners. Each aligner is slightly different in order to gradually shift the teeth and accomplish all of your identified treatment goals. Aligners are to be worn between 20 to 22 hours per day to be most effective. Approximately every two to three weeks, you will advance to the next aligner in the series, and your progress will be reviewed every six weeks. When you finish wearing the entire series of aligners, your treatment is complete. Once the desired outcome is attained, you will be provided an Invisalign® retainer to help prevent your teeth from shifting back to their original position.

Invisalign® Results

The results achieved with Invisalign® are often impressive, and due to the absence of cement and ease of hygiene, teeth are generally in better condition after treatment with Invisalign® than with traditional braces. The new smile you achieve with Invisalign® can be long-lasting if retainers are worn as recommended.
